The Young Leaders' Scheme is just one of the exciting programme elements in the Explorer Scout section. Young Leaders are Explorer Scouts who choose to devote some of their time to leadership at a Beaver Colony, Cub Pack or Scout Troop in the District.
Being a Young Leader helps Explorer Scouts to develop and grow as individuals. It allows them to make a valuable contribution to their community and give service to others. The scheme also helps them fulfil the service elements of their Duke of Edinburgh and Chief Scouts Awards.
In Woking we have over fifty Young Leaders helping out at colonies, packs and troops across the District. We have a dedicated team of adult leaders who offer training, advice and support to these Young Leaders, and the Young Leader Unit meet several times a term, including at occasional residential training weekends. The programme for Woking Young Leader Unit can be found at the bottom of this page.
Young Leader training is divided into Modules. In Woking, we try to offer as many opportunities as possible for Young Leaders to complete these modules. Young Leaders also work to complete missions. For details on modules and missions, see the scout website.
If you're interested in becoming a young leader, please contact Woking's District Explorer Scout Commissioner. Contact details can be found on the main Explorer page.
