Woking Scouts AGM 2022
On Wed 29th June Woking District Scout Council held the AGM. Hosted by 1st Old Woking and held at 7th Woking HQ.
We were lucky to have in attendance Woking Mayor, Cllr Saj Hussain, County Commissioner Joe Rogerson, Dept. County Commissioner Trisha Griffin, and County SASU Commissioner Mary Osborne.
An unusually large attendance, for good reason. Some of the highest awards in scouting were presented during the evening. Jean Smith 50 years supporting the District received the rarely awarded Silver Wolf ("for services of the most exceptional character." )
Lyn Blackman received, a never seen before on district, Chief Scout Commendation for Meritorious Conduct (“for those who have conducted themselves with a high degree of courage, endurance, and dedication to the Scouts, often through difficulties“)
After the formalities, 7 scouts from the Woking Contingent for the next Korean Jamboree gave a presentation of what they expect from the trip and where they are in that journey now. A great presentation, and they are working hard rasing money for the trip. To see their full story and you could make a donation click WokingJamboree2023.
A very pleasant sociable evening, a big thanks to our special visitors, Mayor and Mayoress of Woking it was great too see so many people both young and old.
